Noe gøy på M(etamorfosis)’ is the first album featuring award winning Oslo based jazz orchestra OJKOS and the music of Norwegian trombonist and composer Magnus Murphy Joelson. The complex yet melodic music is thoroughly composed, painting long meditativ lines as well as busy and humorous Zappaesque moments. There are more connections than meets the ear, with every tune referencing each other, hidden within different musical context and strong musicianship from within the band.

This is especially true for the 21 minute long title piece
Noe gøy på M’ (meaning Something fun beginning with M)
as well as it’s musical predecessor, the 13 minute long
‘Midten på alt’ (the midpoint of everything).

This project mixes the iconic OJKOS sound of a large jazz ensemble with flute (H. Eilertsen), vibraphone (K. Nesheim) and electronics (M. McCormick) with an extra brass heavy rendition of the ensemble featuring Nora Hannisdal on French horn and Magnus Løvseth on tuba.

Recorded at Newtone AS may 2021 by Aksel Jensen and Ludvig Broll
Produced by Arne Martin Nybo and Magnus Murphy Joelson

Review from Textura.org april 2024:
Noe gøy på M(etamorfosis) beguiles as much for its intricately composed material as its cheekiness. Imagine Frank Zappa collaborating with Charles Mingus, and you're halfway there (…) Those with an appetite for Norwegian large ensemble jazz of the forward-thinking type should find much to like. The reputations of Magnus Murphy Joelson and Ojkos are both enhanced by this adventurous release, and hopefully this won't be the only album-length collaboration between the two.”
